Dear Friends in Christ,
Every Epiphany there is a tradition of making a proclamation of the important liturgical days of the year. Here is an excerpt:
The Easter Triduum of the Lord:
his last supper, his crucifixion, his burial,
and his rising celebrated
between the evening of the Second day of April
and the evening of the Fourth day of April
Easter Sunday being on the Fifth day of April.
Each Easter — as on each Sunday —
The Holy Church makes present the great and saving deed by which Christ has forever conquered sin and death. From Easter are reckoned all the days we keep holy.
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent,
will occur on the Eighteenth day of February.
The Ascension of the Lord will be commemorated on
Sunday, the Seventeenth day of May.
Pentecost, the joyful conclusion of the season of Easter,
will be celebrated on the twenty-fourth of May.
And, this year, the First Sunday of Advent will be
on the Twenty-Ninth day of November, 2026.
This proclamation reminds me that not only is there a lot going on liturgically, but also a lot going on in our parish. It would be nice to make available a regular calendar of our parish events so we could all know when annual events like Stewardship and Service Sundays will be, when will the Annual Appeal take place, social events, message series, Parish Missions/Retreats, etc. We’ll get to work on that. I hope everyone had a Happy New Year!
God love you!
Fr. Matt
