Dear Friends in Christ,
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving this Thursday. I am so grateful to be the pastor of this great parish. Last weekend we had a chance to celebrate all that we are doing and all that we are dreaming about here at SKD. Thank you for prayerfully considering your financial support of our parish. You are so generous and everything we can do and everything that we hope for in the future comes from you. I want to say a special thank you to our awesome hospitality ministry. Beyond our coffee and donuts at the 9am Mass, this ministry has really answered the call to provide hospitality at all the Masses once a month and even are providing refreshments for our Perspective Member Orientation Sessions. What a blessing and what a great ministry to get involved in if you would like to serve!
Another thing I am so grateful for about our parish is the number of young families and kids. We have really great Children’s programs during the 9 and 11 am Masses that are loads of fun. Outside of these Masses and ministries we have lots of kids all over the Church, Praise the Lord! In order to help parents and their little ones we are trying to make the Drexel Place area in the back of Church more kid-friendly with some extra books and a playmat. To make our whole Church more friendly to everyone, including our older parishioners, we do want to try to keep the open area in the narthex a non-running area. In Church our ushers also have a special basket of toys and treats for our fussy youngsters. The most important thing we can do is help parents to bring their young ones to Church and to make sure they have a great time when they are here. Remember a Church where you don’t hear crying is dying. Thank God for our youngest parishioners and our amazing families. Happy Thanksgiving!
Peace and love,
Fr. Matt
