Dear Friends in Christ,
Welcome to the Season of Advent! As you see on the bulletin cover this week our theme is “Welcome to the After Party”. Jesus speaks to us of the “after party” this weekend. It is after everything; it is the Lord’s return in glory. His advice is to be vigilant and ready for when it comes. Do not be afraid because this party after all things is the best party – it is heaven. The first step of attending such a party is simply to “get up”. God is the one throwing this party so we don’t have to worry about food, decorations, or the venue. We first have to get up and get excited.
We will meet new friends in this after party and I have someone special to introduce you to this weekend. Seminarian David Correa will be with us for his pastoral year beginning this month and through the summer. The hope is that he will have a great experience of parish life here at SKD and get involved in all kinds of ministries and service. Please give him a big SKD welcome when you see him.
Next weekend we will have a special 11am Mass! Archbishop Lori will be coming to formally install me as pastor. I renew my promises of ordination and an oath of fidelity, but it is really a celebration of our parish. We get to highlight so many of you that help us fulfill our mission. I am beyond grateful for all of you and so glad I am called to serve you here at St. Katharine Drexel parish.
