The Unity Campaign in Frederick each year supports non-profit agencies who assist our most vulnerable neighbors. One of those non-profits is our own St. Vincent de Paul Society, who can be designated as a recipient of your contribution. Please consider this option when contributing to the Unity Campaign this month. A bulletin insert this week provides a donation form for your convenience.
If your parish group or committee would like to use space in any of our buildings during the next fiscal year (starting in July), please submit your space requests by 29 March to Rachel Allan in the Parish Office, as we will soon start working on our building-use calendar for next year (in collaboration with Saint John Regional School.) The Facility Request Form can be found on our website at saintdrexel.org.
The Easter flowers that grace our altar area for many weeks in the spring are always a welcome sight after the starkness of Lent. Please use the flower envelope in your packet sometime this month to help us decorate in the joy of the upcoming resurrection season.
Each year on Palm Sunday we celebrate a parish Seder Meal, which is a Jewish ritual meal recalling the Passover event. Each household brings a dish to share, and it is a prayerful way to begin Holy Week. Please use the form on our website (www.saintdrexel.org) to register for this special evening.
I’m grateful to Fr. Mike McDermott who is presiding at Masses while I am away. You may recall that I was supposed to retire when I turned 70, and the Archbishop asked me to serve as pastor for another year. Long before that agreement, a joint parish cruise was organized (with Resurrection Church in Ellicott City) for this month—never thinking I would be away from my parish during Lent! With 35 parishioners we are touring Argentina, the Falkland Islands, Chile, and going around Cape Horn— and I apologize that I am away during part of this sacred time of year.
