The Katharine Konnection

The Saint Katharine-St.Hubert Parish Partnership Committee would like to share a letter from Serge Bellanton, founder of the Bellanton Foundation, which has built and is operating Institute Jerome Bellanton (IJB), a Catholic Elementary school in Camp-Mary, Haiti.  SKD has provided financial support to IJB in 2020 & 2021 to support the school meal program.  

Father Faubert, of St Hubert’s was able to join the staff and students of IJB for their opening day of school on September  6, 2021.  He is shown here with principal Harold Pierre & the head of religious education.

To our extended family of Saint Katharine Drexel, we at Institution Jerome Bellanton (IJB) are very grateful to have you as our brothers and sisters.

For this school year, 2021-2022, IJB has 391 students from K- 7th grade. On behalf of the entire staff, parents, and students, I thank you tremendously for your generous donation of $5,000. This donation will allow us to feed the children of IJB 3 days a week for a period of time. For the majority, lunch programs at school serve as the only meal a child will receive in a day and so it relieves a great deal of burden on families when their children are able to obtain meals at school. You, the parishioners and community of Saint Katharine have been a great help in alleviating this burden.

I join the staff, families, and students of IJB in prayer and ask that God keep our extended family safe and healthy during this troubling time.
