Fellow parishioners,
The Season of Lent will be starting in a few weeks. It is not too early to begin to think about what you are going to do to make this Lent a time to grow closer to God.
Here are some things the parish is preparing:
- We will be mailing the Little Black Book of Daily Lenten Devotions to every household. Be on the lookout for in the next few weeks.
- A Lenten prayer will be offered on Friday evenings during Lent. Be sure to check the bulletin for more details about what is offered each Friday.
- The Adult Faith Formation committee is working on Lenten Activities for individuals and families. More information from them will be in a future Katharine Konnection.
A resource that I have used is the Year in Our Church from Loyola Press. You can sign up to receive the LIVING LENT DAILY emails by clicking here.
Family Lenten Ideas:
Families wishing to receive the Children’s Little Purple Book of Lenten Activities should let me know.
Here are a few Family Lenten Activities to consider from Joe Paprocki at Loyola Press.
- Lenten Calendar: Children can color a cross each of the forty days of Lent for “ a good deed” according to the color code. Click here to print the calendar.
- Lenten Jar: To help the children understand the three pillars of Lent; Fasting, Almsgiving, & Prayer prepare a Lenten Jar with these suggested ideas. Place the jar in a prominent place and have everyone draw a card to focus on that week.
- We will pray Children’s Stations of the Cross in the church on Good Friday.
I hope to see many of you during our Friday Lenten Prayers and especially for the Triduum.
