This week we welcome Fr. Sumeth Perera to preside at all weekend Masses. Fr. Sumeth is a Jesuit priest from Sri Lanka who works in cancer research at the National Cancer Institute (Ft. Detrick) and offers spiritual direction for our parishioners. We have finished our tour of Australia, having visited Melbourne and Sydney in the south, and Port Douglas in the north (including the Great Barrier Reef). This weekend, we begin our tour of New Zealand.
Many parishioners have received a mail solicitation regarding the Annual Appeal for Catholic Ministries. We are part of a larger Church, and the Appeal is one way that we demonstrate our participation in that Archdiocesan and even broader worldwide faith community. If the brochure is sitting on your desk at home, please take a moment to complete the donation form and return it. The rebate from surpassing our parish goal has helped us make our monthly mortgage payment the last few years!
Each year the Drexel Ball helps us to celebrate the legacy and the Feast Day of our parish patron Saint Katharine Drexel. The Ball is scheduled for Saturday 29 February at the Delaplaine in downtown Frederick and promises to be a great evening, including delicious food stations, a DJ, and games of chance—so get your friends together and help support our scholarship fund and mortgage fund. Please check the bulletin insert this week for donation and sponsorship opportunities.
Next weekend we join the national observance of World Marriage Day, and a special blessing of all married couples will occur at each Mass. Please plan to attend the same Mass with your spouse to receive this blessing. If you are celebrating a special 5-year wedding anniversary during 2020, please return the form in this bulletin to the parish office by Monday.
Needed items for the Emergency Shelter (listed on our parish website) may be dropped at the Gift Card Table any weekend during the month of February.
