We are in the midst of the political party campaigns leading up to the general election this November. Jesus called his disciples to care about the world and what goes on in the world. The opportunity to vote in a democracy like ours is one way that we show that we care. To be able to vote in this election, one needs to register before 14 October and information concerning this is included elsewhere in this bulletin. Please make every effort to exercise your right to vote!

A deep respect for human life was evident in the ministry of Jesus, and is a focal point of contemporary Catholic Social Teaching. We are currently organizing a parish Respect Life Committee, which will be addressing both education and action concerning the broad range of life issues facing our society today, including euthanasia, cloning, abortion, and domestic violence. Marriages often go through tough times, and a "tune up" is necessary to get things back on track. There is an excellent Catholic weekend retreat program called"Retrouvaille" which is specifically designed to assist married couples who need a tune up. Don't wait until it is too late to save your marriage--a weekend is coming up in September. Please consult the information listed elsewhere in this bulletin for further information.

During our Capital Campaign in October and November we need a number of visitors who would be willing to contact 7­9 parish families about the Campaign. Professional training will be provided. If you can help me in this way, and ensure that we are successful in this venture, please complete the bulletin insert and return it to the parish office by Monday 8 September.
